Marshall's 2-Part B-day

Marshall's 10th birthday was February 8th! For part 1, we celebrated with a small family party.

Here's Marshall sporting his new Alan Iverson jersey and basketball gear....and blowing out 10 candles!! We can't believe he's double digits!

For part 2.....Marshall invited 5 friends to a Sonics game/sleepover! We started the boys with a game of ultimate bump outside to channel some of their energy!
Then we had pizza, cupcakes, and presents before heading to the game.

Off to Key Arena to watch the Sonics play the Blazers!

We had so much fun....and we're thankful that we have some girls in our family after spending the night with 6 boys!! I don't think anyone got much sleep, but we made lots of memories!
Happy 10th Marshman!

Mid-winter break!!

This week the kids are out of school for mid-winter break and Matt took couple days off so we packed up and headed to the mountains for a little get-away! The Vendelins joined us again so the kids were extra excited to spend some time with friends! We stopped in Leavenworth for lunch and some play time in the snow. The kids were needing some fresh air for sure! Sadie still doesn't get the whole idea that snow is supposed to be fun. She just wants to be held!

The next day, we bundled up for another snow adventure. Last year we drove around for quite awhile looking for a good place to sled due to the lack of snow....but this year was much better. We found a great sledding hill at Wenatchee State Park. They spent most of the afternoon sledding and had a blast! We learned a couple things...Marshall and Ella have no fear, Ava doesn't like to go too fast, and Sadie would rather sit at home in front of the fire. We survived the experience with no injuries although Matt's backside is sore from falling while trying to use a sled as a snowboard. Wish I would have gotten a picture of that!

After a fun dinner in Leavenworth, the kids took a soak in the hot tub, had some ice cream, and crashed in bed so the grown-ups could relax!

We had a great time just relaxing with each other. I've officially seen enough snow this winter and am ready to move on!

Our Athlete!!!

I was looking over our blog and realized I haven't posted any of Marshall's sports pictures all year!! I always bring my camera, but spend most games keeping the peace with the girls and chasing Sadie....so I had to find some good pictures from the team website. Marshall played soccer for the first time this fall and had a blast, but being a baseball player, he had to get used to all of the running! He learned a lot and had a personal goal to score each game. I invested in a good coat and braved the elements, with coffee in hand. All in all, it was a fun time and he wants to play again next fall.

We started basketball in November. It's fun because a lot of the same boys from soccer play on the team and he has the same coaches. Despite being one of the shorter players, Marshall is quick and loves the game! He has made some great friends this year! He has a couple games left this season and I'll miss watching....but won't miss getting up at 7:00 on Saturday mornings!!

We're gearing up up for baseball season which starts in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see which sport Marshall gravitates to as he gets older. Right now he's just passionate about everything he does! We're proud of him!
